Our commitment to safety
Every Tinitigies mobile is handcrafted for the nursery and independently tested to the standards that keep little ones safe.
Safety is designed in, not added on
A mobile hangs above the one place your baby spends the most time. That is a responsibility we take seriously at every step, from the felt we choose to the lab reports we keep on file.
Thoughtful materials
Premium felt, soft fabric-covered parts, and natural wood accents, chosen with your nursery and your baby in mind.
Independent lab testing
Our mobiles are evaluated by an independent third-party laboratory against both U.S. and European standards, not just checked in-house.
Certified on paper
We hold a Children’s Product Certificate and keep the underlying test reports on record.
Tested to both U.S. and European toy safety standards
Our mobiles were submitted to QIMA, an independent third-party laboratory, and assessed against ASTM F963-23, the standard the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requires, together with the European EN 71 series and EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. Physical safety, flammability, heavy metals, and phthalates were all covered, and every test passed.
What we test for
Independent testing covered mechanical safety, flammability, and chemistry across both U.S. and European rules. Here is what that means for your nursery.
- ✓Small parts & choking
Components assessed for the choking hazards that matter most for babies under three. - ✓Sharp points & edges
Checked so there are no accessible sharp points or edges. - ✓Cords & straps
Evaluated against the requirements for cords and elastic on infant products. - ✓Flammability
Tested to both U.S. and European flammability methods, with results within the limits. - ✓Lead
Total lead and soluble lead were both not detected in the components tested. - ✓Heavy metals
Screened for cadmium, mercury, arsenic, chromium and more, all within the limits, most not detected at all. - ✓Phthalates
Screened for the phthalates restricted in children’s products, none were detected. - ✓Mobile-specific rules
Assessed against the extra requirements both standards set for crib mobiles.
Safety, explained
What safety standards do Tinitigies mobiles meet?
Our mobiles are tested to ASTM F963-23, the toy safety specification the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission requires, and to the European EN 71 series and EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. Testing covered physical and mechanical safety, flammability, heavy metals, and phthalates, and the tested samples passed.
What is a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC)?
A CPC is a document a manufacturer or importer issues for a children’s product sold in the United States. It certifies that the product complies with the applicable CPSC rules, based on testing by an accredited laboratory. We hold a CPC for our mobiles and keep the supporting test reports on file.
Who does the testing?
An independent third-party laboratory, QIMA. Using an outside lab means the results are not simply our own word.
Do the mobiles meet European safety standards too?
Yes. Alongside the U.S. ASTM F963-23 standard, our mobiles were tested to the European EN 71 series (mechanical and physical properties, flammability, and migration of certain elements) and reviewed against the EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, including CE marking requirements. All results passed.
Do you test for lead, heavy metals, and phthalates?
Yes. The tested components were screened for total and soluble lead, for heavy metals such as cadmium, mercury, arsenic, barium, chromium, antimony and selenium, and for the phthalates restricted in children’s products. Lead and phthalates were not detected, and every result came in within the applicable limits.
Are the mobiles safe for a newborn?
Yes, a crib mobile is intended for newborns and is labeled for ages 0 to 5 months. Like all crib mobiles, it is designed to be looked at, not touched or mouthed, so it should be mounted out of your baby’s reach and removed once your baby can push up on hands and knees. See the guidance below.
Using your mobile safely
A mobile is nursery decor for your baby to watch, not a toy to reach or chew. A few simple habits keep it that way:
- Mount it securely and out of your baby’s reach, at least the distance the instructions specify.
- Stop using it as a crib attachment once your baby can push up on hands and knees, or by about 5 months, whichever comes first.
- Check the attachment and strings from time to time, and keep the mobile away from where your baby sleeps unattended.
Peace of mind, above the crib
Every Tinitigies mobile is handmade with care and backed by testing, so the only thing left for you to do is watch your little one drift off.
